Nyt 13.7. alkavalla viikolla tehdään parvekkeiden hiekkapuhallukset. Täksi ajaksi sammutetaan talon ilmanvaihto, jotta asuntoihin ei kulkeutuisi pölyä. Parvekeseinien ikkunoita on suojattu. Puhalluksien on tarkoitus valmistua ensi viikon lopussa, tai seuraavan alussa, riippuen siitä miten pinnoitteet irtoavat.
Jatke on jo tiedottanut asuntoihin, joissa on takka, että takkojen ja takkaimureiden käyttö on kielletty remontin aikana, ja että takan pellin tulee olla suljettu.
Taloyhtiö ottaa saunan lämmityksen pois päältä puhalluksien ajaksi, ja suosittelee että kuivaushuoneita ei käytettäisi puhalluksien aikana.
Ikkunat on nyt tilattu, ja niiden toimitukset alkavat elokuun lopulla. Asennusten aloittamisesta tiedotetaan erikseen lähempänä.
Lokkien pesimisestä keskusteltiin urakoitsijan ja valvojan kanssa viimeksi torstaina urakkakokouksessa. Urakoitsija kertoo toimivansa täällä samalla tavalla kuin muissakin vastaavissa kohteissa, joissa on ollut lokinpesiä katoilla: pesään ei kajota eikä sen läheisyyteen mennä, eikä kattoa peitetä niin kauan kuin siellä on pesiä tai poikasia. Rakennustelineiden sivuun myös katon puolelle laitetaan peitteet, jotta lokit eivät häiriinny telineillä liikkuvista rakentajista. Muissa kohteissa tästä ei ole tullut huomautuksia. Torstaina katolla pesiminen jatkui normaalisti, ja ainakin yksi lokinpoikanen tepasteli siellä. Jatke oli myös pysäyttänyt yhden teleyhtiön asentajan, joka oli aikonut kävellä antenninsa luokse katon harjaa pitkin, eli pesän vierestä. Toivomme kaikki että pesintä onnistuu ja poikaset pääsevät lentämään matkoihinsa niin että myös katon työt voidaan aloittaa elokuussa.

Sandblasting of the balconies is taking place during the week starting July 13. The building’s ventilation system will be turned off during this time to prevent dust from entering the apartments. Windows on the balcony walls have been covered. The blasting work is expected to be completed by the end of next week or the beginning of the following week, depending on how easily the old coatings come off.
Jatke has already notified residents of apartments with fireplaces that the use of fireplaces and chimney fans is prohibited during the renovation and that fireplace dampers must remain closed.
The housing company will turn off the sauna heating during the blasting work and recommends that the drying rooms not be used while the work is in progress.
The windows have now been ordered, and deliveries will begin in late August. Residents will be notified separately closer to the time when installation begins.
The issue of nesting seagulls was discussed with the contractor and the site supervisor at the project meeting last Thursday. The contractor stated that they are following the same procedures here as at other similar sites with rooftop seagull nests: nests are left undisturbed, no one approaches them, and the roof is not covered as long as nests or chicks are present. Protective sheeting will be installed on the sides of the scaffolding facing the roof to prevent the gulls from being disturbed by workers moving on the scaffolding. No complaints regarding this practice have arisen at other sites. On Thursday, nesting activity on the roof was continuing as usual, and at least one seagull chick was seen walking about. Jatke also stopped a telecom technician who had intended to walk along the roof ridge—right past the nest—to reach an antenna. We all hope the nesting is successful and the chicks fledge and fly off, so that work on the roof can also begin in August.
